Grooming Is Important

If you have a dog at home or are thinking of buying one, please remember how important it is to groom your dog!

Grooming not only makes a dog look and feel better but it keeps him or her healthier! When you bring your dog to the groomers they don't just wash your dog and throw them in a cage to dry! They inspect your dog for harmful parasites such as fleas, ticks, or worms! Groomers look at the skin to make sure it's not real dry or has rashes. They look at the ears to make sure they are not infected. They look at the nails to make sure they are nice and short! Groomers inspect the pads to make sure there are no harmful or sharp objects stuck in between!

When I groom a dog that's the first thing I do! I look over the dog to make sure it's healthy and If I do find fleas or ticks, rashes, or anything I fix the problem. I have shampoo's and conditioner's that are specially made to help with certain problems. If I think it's something very serious, then I refer them to a Veterinarian. Grooming helps get rid of dirt and matting! It actually makes the dogs feel better not just look better!

If you can not afford to professionally have your dog groomed then it's important not only to bath your dog but brush him! If your dog has matts and you do not remove them, then those matts will get tighter and tighter! Imagine your hair in a tight knot pulling on your skin? Constantly Pulling on your skin? No blood flow to that area? OUCH!!! Keep your dog cleaned and brushed! If you can not clip your own dogs toe nails and can not afford to get your dog groomed then bathe them at home and go to your local vets to have to toe nails cut. It's not that much money! If you still can not afford that and the dogs health is at risk...I think it's time to find help or a new home for the pup!

Don't Buy Animals! Adopt Them!

If you and your family decide to bring an animal into your home, adopt one (or two). Don’t buy one from a pet store. That way you can save a homeless animal from death and your money won’t be used to support the dog and cat population explosion. The goal of the pet shops is to make money so animals in them are often treated as just another "item" to be sold.

Many of the puppies in pet shops come from puppy mills. These are places where sad, lonely dogs live in small cages under awful conditions and are forced to give birth to puppies over and over again. After about five or six years, the dogs in the puppy mills don’t have enough puppies so they’re killed. If people didn’t buy puppies from pet shops, then the puppy mills would go out of business and the dogs in shelters would find good homes instead of being killed.

When you are ready to adopt an animal, don’t overlook the ones who may not seem "cute" to other people. These need just as much love as any others and will give you much love and appreciation in return.

When your friends tell you they want to buy a fancy, pedigree dog or cat, tell them about all the homeless animals who are waiting to be adopted. The dogs and cats in shelters are just as nice as the dogs in pet shops. Shelters even have many of the same pedigree dogs and cats as pet stores. There are also many rescue groups for purebreds, so if people want a specific kind of dog or cat they can always adopt one from the rescue group.
You can visit Pet Finders to look for animals that are up for adoption. You can search by breed or zip code to find just the right animal at a shelter or rescue group near you.
I agree with this very strongly! It is important to rescue a dog instead of buying from a puppy mill! Even if you want a pure bred like a standard poodle, they have rescue groups out there! Just google it and help stop animal cruelty!

Meet Jasmine Marie and Isabel Rose!

Jasmine Mariah and Isabel Rose are Standard Poodles and A breed that I have come to Adore!

Isabel Rose is a four year old cream Standard Poodle with a heart of gold! She loves playing with her ball, lounging in the sun, sitting with her legs crossed and just being the perfect little prep that she is! When it comes for Isabel's grooming she will jump right up on the table and hand me her paw as if to say " Ah yes, I am ready for my monthly manicure!" After I am done with her grooming she will walk around with her head held so high and be so proud of her new stunning look! Don't get me wrong though...she has her dog days. If she sees a puddle of mud, she will run over to it and jump around! If you leave chicken or some type of meat in the trash...She will find it! And she demands at least 1/2 the bed! Isabel will actually sleep with her head on a pillow and body under the covers! She makes a great cuddlier though! Isabel is a little shy when she first meets a new dog or person but quickly warms up to them and loves to play. If a male dog goes somewhere he is not suppose to go, Isabel is sure to let him know that she isn't easy and not to go there!

Then there is Jasmine Mariah! She is a 2 year old black Standard Poodle who is the complete opposite of her sister Isabel! She is still as loving as can be but the biggest goof ball ever! She will run around in a circle, nudge you with her nose and demand to be loved, roll around, jump around, make funky noises, and make the cutest facial expressions ever! Jasmine is not a prep at all! I like to call her my little tom boy! She likes to rough house and pass gas and be a complete spaz! Jasmine loves everyone she meets and has to be the center of attention! When it's time for her to sleep she will lay right on top of you until you move! If you try and move her she grunts back at you! I always have to remind her that I am the pack leader not her! She really is a sweetheart though and wouldn't hurt a fly! She is stubborn but not mean! Her and Isabel are inseparable! They love each other so much and together with their unique personalities make the best pets ever! Never a dull moment in my household!

I hope to share more fun stories about Isabel and Jasmine as time passes! Everyday is something new!
